Turkish Daylights: The Red Half Moon

I noticed this particularity about two months upon my arrival in Türkiye and I remember having a kind of eureka moment: “Of course! This is not a Christian country. So why would there be a Red Cross?!”

The sign indicating any kind of medical services over here is the red half moon, also known as Red Crescent. The half moon is a symbol of Islam that can be found in many countries’ flags.
